Who we are:

The pop choir experience is lead by our dynamic facilitator - Josh.

With over 8 years experience as a professional choir leader, Josh can help to your group to engage with music in a fun and accessible way. He can accompany you on guitar or piano, and guide you every step of the way, from warm up to complete 3 part arrangement!

Before moving to Denmark, Josh studied composition at the Birmingham Conservatoire in the UK. As well as songwriting and performing, Josh taught choir inside prisons with the UK charity Choirs Beating Time.

Whilst finishing studying his masters, and soloist programme at RMC in Copenhagen, he began teaching both Population choir and MVE. Both of which are still active and performing in the City. Currently he’s establishing a new community band called Rough Music to create a space for people to play their instruments and learn songs by local artists.

Josh is one of the founders, and leader of the Queer Community Singing Group - a non gendered ‘choir’ for LGBTQIA+ people. We divide into 3 parts which people can choose, to avoid potentially off-putting and triggering language like Soprano and Tenor, with traditionally gendered connotations. Now in its 3rd year, we are a community of over 200 people, still meeting every Saturday morning to learn a new song in 3 part harmony together.

We believe singing should be a good time, and not at all scary! Josh is great at making a relaxed and fun atmosphere for everyone, and showing us that singing shouldn’t be intimidating… everyone can sing, and what’s more, everyone can sing in harmony, and sound great while doing it!
